WELCOME TO AMIENS

After the European Youth Championships in 2002, the World University Championships in 2005 in Villeneuve-Loubet, the European Senior in 2007 in Strasbourg and before welcoming the World Senior Championships in 2011 in Paris, it is now Amiens turn to host the European Youth Championships in this Olympic Year.

It is a new challenge for the National Federation as well as for the Picardy Regional Committee under its President Marc ANDRIEUX and the Amiens Club (under its President Brigitte VANDEVELDE). This club has a prestifious history which includes Daniel SENET, Silver Medalist in the Montreal Olympics in 1976.

The organisation of this event has been underpinned by Yanick GRICOURT, seconded by the National Coaching Departement, to coordinale the different bodies. He is backed up by a tean of volunteers to ensure the success of this Championship for athletes under 17.

On behalf of the Federal Authority, I am pleased to welcome the foreign delegations to Amiens. I trust they will take away, as before, a pleasant memory of their stay in France.

May this Championship be a significant stage for the future career of these young European Weightlifters on thhe internationale scene.
